Hatstand (www.hatstand-ltd.com) are looking to recruit Graduate trainees to join a 2 year scheme within a QA and test department for our leading clients (Major European
/ Global Investment Banks). This is an exciting and challenging
opportunity.
The Trainee role will involve the following disciplines:
- Formal training on specific internal systems
- Close working relationships with both the business and the technical teams.
- Reviewing and communicating software release changes from the appropriate development teams
- System testing and quality assurance
- Liasing with product providers regarding problem resolution and enhancement/project delivery
- Liasing with the Front Office business and IT groups
- Management of problems, ensuring effective and timely resolution and communication
- Identifying and resolving potential system problems
- Project lead, co-ordinate and implement system releases
- Update relevant applications and system documentation for the various support and technical groups
- Take ownership of client issues and manage them to resolution
- Manage client / vendor expectations
- Effectively communicate issues to Business and IT Managers
- Contribute to communication and cooperation between regional technical teams to facilitate consistently high standards of client services global
- Work effectively under pressure with strong sensitivity to deadlines
- Support clients by providing technical expertise and knowledge to maintain agreed service levels
Skills/Qualifications:
- Educated to degree level in a technical discipline (minimum 2:1)
- Self evident interest in IT
- Willingness and desire to understand distributed systems (Solaris, Linux server-side, XP/.net client side) any prior experience beneficial
- Database knowledge beneficial: oracle, Sybase desirable
- Some experience of applications development (Java, C++). Perl/other scripting language beneficial
- A solid understanding and a deep desire to learn more about investment banking and financial markets
- Strong communication skills
- Demonstrable technical skills / aptitude / attitude
- Clear sense of ownership and responsibility
- Observant, insightful and eager to contribute
- Motivated, ambitious and enthusiastic
- A willingness to learn new technologies and build a solid understanding of the business context of the applications
- Highly committed and dedicated
- Reliability, responsiveness, assurance and empathy are essential
- Must be articulate and highly literate in the English language.
- Ability to work in a high pressure environment.
£25,000 - £32,000 depending on experience
