The Finance programme will involve participating in the budget setting and financial control processes for major areas of service. Working within our central or trading departments helping to develop business plans and providing financial support to major projects.
Placement rotation for Planners will be across Hertfordshire County Council and East Herts District Council – therefore learning about the differing planning roles of each organisation.


How fast?

Finance Programme
•Sponsored study towards CIPFA
•Variety of financial / accountancy roles throughout your 3 year training period
•Responsibility of giving financial support to managers

Planners Programme
• Sponsored to undertake an MA in Urban and Regional Planning or an MA Planning Policy and Practice during the two year traineeship

• In conjunction with the further qualifications, the schemes rotate you through various relevant work experience placements building in responsibility and complexity of real business problems.

Our Requirements

•At least three GCSEs grades A-C which must include Maths and English
•Two A levels, grades A-C, or equivalent
•A 2:1 honours degree or a Masters OR For Finance posts an appropriate accountancy qualification such as full membership of the Association of Accounting Technicians.

If you are in the final stages of study for any of the above, appointment would be conditional on completing the qualification by August 2008.

We will consider graduates from any discipline for either programmes. Although geography, environmental sciences, economics, surveying and those degrees with a social or environmental science are of obvious relevance for the Planning Programme.
