The Graduate

I relocated to Staffordshire in 2014 to join the bet365 Graduate Programme. After studying Law at the University of Sheffield, I was looking to join a company that provided development and progression from day one. This and the promise of real managerial experience and responsibility in a reputable global company attracted me to bet365.

The Scheme

This programme gave me a level of exposure that I believe is unmatched by many other Graduate entry level roles and the opportunities are there for graduates who have the drive and work ethic to go and get them.

From day one Senior Management are directly involved in your development through the mentoring programme, this level of support and exposure is superb, opening the door for opportunities to be involved in exciting new projects.

Rotation for me was central to the programme. Spending time in the various operational departments has given me an understanding of the organisation and industry which has proved invaluable to my continuing progression in the company.

On completing the Graduate Scheme I accepted a position as a Supervisor in the Customer Services department. This was a perfect fit for me as I enjoy the dynamic nature of operations and the connection with the customers, especially the feedback they provide following changes made to the website or our other services.

Following the Scheme

I have continued to learn a lot about the company and its systems and processes and have recently been promoted to Deputy Customer Services Manager within Operations which is great for me at the moment and very exciting. I will also be joining the Company’s Management Development Programme where I hope to meet Managers from different parts of the business and build my networks from there.

Summary

Working for a market leader is brilliant and bet365 is the world’s favourite online gambling operator. The continued growth seen by the company has never been more apparent and our new purpose built state-of-the-art headquarters are fantastic.

The Graduate

After graduating from Durham University in 2012 with a 1st in Sociology, I spent a year working and travelling in Australia before starting a career in retail management. I soon realised retail was not for me and that I wanted a long-term career within a large, global company that was continuously growing and truly invested in its employees.

After successfully completing the Graduate Assessment day at the bet365 Stadium, I joined the bet365 Graduate Scheme in September 2015 and have never looked back.

The Scheme

The scheme was fast-paced, challenging and varied from the start. When I first joined the company I had very little sports or betting knowledge, however I am amazed at how much I have learned in the past 15 months and how I have been able put these skills and knowledge into practice.

All of my colleagues have been supportive and helpful, and the training and mentoring process throughout the scheme ensured that I was able to cope with the demands. As I progressed, I gained a real insight into the global scale of the company, the variety of roles that exist and the importance of each of these roles.

Whilst completing my departmental rotations, I developed a good understanding of how each department operates and built a valuable network of colleagues from areas all over the business.

Following the Scheme

Having recently completed the Graduate Scheme, I have now joined the Fraud and Risk Management department as a Fraud Analysis Team Leader. The department is responsible for the prevention and detection of fraudulent activity across the Sports and Gaming products, and my role consists of managing my own team of Fraud Specialists as well as contributing to the day-to-day running of the department.

Since joining the department, I have already had the opportunity to lead a small team of Specialists on a project that focused on implementing a procedure to mitigate the risk of fraud within the business.

Summary

A key factor that influenced my decision to join bet365 was the opportunity for progression. The nature of the Graduate Scheme means that individual interests and strengths can shape careers. The scheme has given me the platform and the skills required to forge my own path within the company. As the company continues to grow and opportunities arise, I am excited for what my future at bet365 holds and where my career will take me.
