Gist Limited is a supply chain company with a long history, spanning over 100 years. We work closely with our 3,000+ customers, which cover a wide range of commercial and industrial sectors, including some of the biggest names in food retail such as Marks & Spencer Food, Starbucks, Müller Milk and Eat.

We have one of the UK’s most extensive chill and perishable supply chains as well as a well-established, European network, specialising in horticulture and fresh produce logistics. We have recently moved into the US market with our first Washington State based distribution centre, delivering to Starbucks stores across the west coast of America, Hawaii, Alaska & Canada.

Our focus is on creating the right supply chain to suit each individual business, using our practical experience, industry knowledge and innovative use of technology to ensure that our customers get the most out of their supply chain – in warehousing, transport and network design.

Graduate Schemes

The Gist Management Trainee schemes are designed to create our future business leaders. We currently have two schemes available; the Operational Graduate Management Trainee Scheme, working within our Warehouses and Transport divisions, and the IT Project Management Graduate Trainee Scheme, working within our Head Office on IT Projects. No matter which scheme you are on, we offer a structured but uniquely tailored schedule of placements that support your individual progression and development. As you progress through the scheme, we ensure you are rewarded by managing larger teams and taking on greater challenges, as well as through a progressive, competitive salary and benefits package.

You will be allocated a buddy a few months ahead of you joining, who will be a graduate from the site that you will join for your first placement, to help you get settled into life at Gist and the site. You will also be allocated a mentor from our senior management structure, who will be there to offer support and guidance on your career development for the duration of your time on the scheme.

Undergraduate Schemes

Our Industrial Placement Schemes offer 12 month placements in either Operational Management, Consulting or Human Resources to penultimate year students looking for an industrial placement as part of their four or five year sandwich-degree course. Put your academic knowledge into context and be better prepared on graduation to kick-start your career in your chosen field.

Each 12 month scheme offers a unique, hands-on experience of working at Gist. This is underpinned by a tailored shadowing and development scheme to allow you to get the most from your placement, whilst learning new skills in people management and business awareness.

It doesn’t stop there – if you have a successful year with us, you will have the opportunity to be fast-tracked onto one of our Graduate Management Trainee Schemes in either Human Resources or Operational Management.
