Company Profile

Why School Direct?

School Direct is an exciting and challenging training route, which attracts a wide variety of graduates into the teaching profession including those seeking a career change.

You will be fully immersed in the life of a teacher from day one – with all the professional support, mentoring and expertise of outstanding schools and universities.

You will also spend time on placement, in at least two different school settings, to broaden your experience. We are able to offer placements at the new University of Birmingham School – the UK’s first university secondary school.

Haybridge is the Lead School for Initial Teacher Education (ITE) in our Alliance and the professional studies element of the course will be coordinated here.

Trainees on the School Direct route with us are linked with the University of Birmingham or Newman University. You will spend at least 15 days across the year at the university to complete your PGCE dissertation and subject specific training.

Your Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) provides 60 credits contributing to Masters Level.
