From Humble Beginnings…
While Kingfisher is known today as a premium worldwide brand, one now associated with the revolutionary Indian Premier League and the adrenaline-soaked glamour of Formula 1, it wasn’t always so. In fact, it came from rather humble beginnings in bustling southern India. Our story began in 1857, where Kingfisher beer was first created at Castle Breweries in Mylore, which in 1915 joined forces with four others in southern India to form a brewery of the highest class. It produced a refreshing lager of the very finest quality, worthy of the title of India’s No.1 Beer. And so United Breweries was born. By coming together, it seems, they’d created something even more powerful.
…To India’s No.1 Beer
The rapid growth that followed was fuelled by the burning ambition of Dr. Vijay Mallya, who saw the potential of Kingfisher beer. His ambition and desire to build strong premium brands has built up Kingfisher’s standing as the ‘King of Good Times’ in its home country, and his success with the Kingfisher brand means that one of three beers drunk in India today is a Kingfisher. With an eye for glamour and opportunities, expanding into other fields was only natural. Kingfisher has now long been associated with the world of sport and style. As a long standing partner of the world’s most exciting cricket competition, the Indian Premier League, the Kingfisher logo now adorns the shirts of 5 teams, including 2011 runners-up Royal Challengers Bangalore and as a key partner of the Sahara Force India Formula 1 team, who are now a stalwart of the grid, the brand further establishes itself as a global Indian icon
