Manchester Metropolitan University (MMU) is the largest campus-based undergraduate university in the UK with a total student population of more than 37,000. Our aim is to be the University for World-Class Professionals with an emphasis on vocational education and employability.

Offering subject areas that serve industry, commerce and the professions, the University has built up an enviable reputation for providing work-ready graduates with the mix of thinking, problem solving and practical skills that employers want.

MMU is one of the UK’s most popular universities with over 30% of our students studying for part-time, postgraduate or professional qualifications across a diverse range of subjects, the majority with a strong professional bias.

£350m  has recently been investmented in state of the art buildings and students facilities to give the University a single campus in the centre of Manchester and a campus in Crewe, Cheshire.

History and tradition

With academic roots dating back to 1824, MMU has a proud tradition of excellence and a reputation for welcoming students from a diverse range of backgrounds, countries and cultures. Our university buildings range from the ultra-modern £75m Business School to the 130 year old Art School with its brand new £35m Design Building offering extensive facilities and vibrant postgraduate communities. The £139m development at Birley Fields, 800m from All Saints campus, will provide a stunning new home for the faculties of Health and Education in September 2014. Our faculties now include:


Diversity and choice

The University offers a choice between taught undergraduate and postgraduate courses and research-based study, on a full and part time basis, with an extensive range of facilities to support your learning. We have the highest concentration of postgraduate taught courses in the North West of England and provide an excellent research environment for our postgraduate research students.

 World leading research

Our strong research profile is underpinned by a network of Research Institutes with research-active academics leading research teams which are both cross-disciplinary and multi-disciplinary in nature. We have world leading research in the sciences, arts, education and social sciences, according to the recent UK-wide assessment of university research quality.
